Maturity (last)——
1

Petroleum potential · HI vs TOC

TOC on a log scale against hydrogen index. Vertical lines mark poor, fair, good and very good organic richness; horizontal lines separate gas-prone, mixed and oil-prone organic matter.
2

Kerogen type · pseudo-Van Krevelen

Hydrogen index against oxygen index with the evolution paths of kerogen types I, II and III. Samples move toward the origin as they mature.
3

Maturity · HI vs Tmax

Tmax below 435 °C indicates immature organic matter, 435–470 °C the oil window, and above 470 °C the gas window (Peters & Cassa, 1994).
